Is It Too Early?

Is it too early to start thinking about 2012 goals? I’m injured and won’t be back in action until the beginning of December. At that point, after being out for five weeks, my December race results will be sub par at best so my only hope is to look forward to 2012 and what I might accomplish.

Tentative goals are as follows:
Mile: sub-5:00  (2011 sb: 5:19.6)
5K: 17:00/5:30 (2011 sb: 18:46/6:03)
8K: 29:49/6:00 (2011 sb: 31:03/6:15)
10K: 37:00/6:00 (2011 sb: 42:03/6:47 - olympic tri leg)
10mi: 1:00:00/6:00 (2011 sb: 1:05:03/6:31)
13.1: 1:23/6:20 (Qualify for NYCM) (2011 sb: 1:29:21/6:49)

Have you started thinking about 2012? What are your goals so far?

  2. Awesome goals man. Right now, just want to get under 8:00 in a half marathon and then I plan to go down in increments.

  3. It's never too early to set goals for the next year, esp. for an injured athlete! Mine for 2012 is to run a half marathon (new distance) in as close to 2 hours as possible. In general, I want to get under 2 hours for a 13.1 before someone breaks that barrier in a full marathon. I'm open to suggestions for the best course to do this on (fall race)...
